“It has been a great pleasure to work on this project. Don is a great lyricist, idea man, mover & shaker. Sam is one of the most talented producer / musicians I’ve ever worked with. During several of the writing / singing sessions, I thought that if I could have seen myself doing this when I was a kid, I’d have thought I was the luckiest guy alive.”

Nancy Hanson

  • Jack and Jill
  • Goodnight, Bordeaux

I love being around Sam and Don. They are two of the most creative, talented, genuine people I know. I have such admiration and respect for both of these guys; it was a real honor to be asked to participate in this project. I sang “Jack and Jill” in the studio one late night with just Sam at the piano – what a way to capture the emotion of that song…it’s pretty powerful. I also appreciated being asked to share my own creativity and write the music for “Goodnight, Bordeaux” and play it in the studio while Hilary sang. I had a great experience being involved with this project. These guys are amazing and the record is so good. It’s cool to be a small part of something so great.

  • She Got Cha-Cha

It’s great to have been invited to join in on another Northern Voices CD. I consider it a privilege and an honor to be involved with the “Voices” and to have my name associated with it. Don’s great words, and Sammy’s great music and impeccable production… this kind of stuff is why I do music! Listen to Cha-Cha. It’s the coolest tune on the CD. Maybe not the best sung… but the coolest.

  • For You

It’s exciting being part of an album that Sam and Don have written together. I really appreciate the message of “For You.” It is very nostalgic–and I love that it speaks to kindness and forgiveness. I’ve long been a fan of Sam’s versatility and his unique ability to capture so many different feelings in his music. Likewise, Don’s lyrics are honest and thoughtful–he says so much with so few words. It’s been wonderful working with two individuals I really admire on an album of many great songs. Love the people, love the music!

My favorite part of the project was meeting John McVey. He’s a good hang. For Don Stirling to pick me to roll with these guys on this album was a trip. And that Cardon guy is OK too.
